Telecommunication
Telecommunication is – according to Article 1.3 of the International Telecommunication Union´s (ITU) Radio Regulations (RR) – defined as «Any transmission, emission or reception of signs, signals, writings, images and sounds or intelligence of any nature by wire, radio, optical or other electromagnetic systems.» This definition is also identical to those contained in the Annex to the Constitution and Convention of the International Telecommunication Union (Geneva, 1992).
Telecommunication occurs when the exchange of information between two or more entities (communication) includes the use of technology. Communication technology uses channels to transmit information (as electrical signals), either over a physical medium (such as signal cables), or in the form of electromagnetic waves. The word is often used in its plural form, telecommunications, because it involves many different technologies.
Early means of communicating over a distance included visual signals, such as beacons, smoke signals, semaphore telegraphs, signal flags, and optical heliographs. Other examples of pre-modern long-distance communication included audio messages such as coded drumbeats, lung-blown horns, and loud whistles. Modern technologies for long-distance communication usually involve electrical and electromagnetic technologies, such as telegraph, telephone, and teleprinter, networks, radio, microwave transmission, fiber optics, and communications satellites.

Telecommunication (song)
"Telecommunication" is a song by A Flock of Seagulls from their debut album A Flock of Seagulls, released in 1981. Although it did not chart on either the traditional United Kingdom or United States charts, it received considerable time on the dance charts. It peaked at number 19 on the Hot Dance Club Play chart in 1981, along with Modern Love Is Automatic. The uptempo beat featuring power chords and heavy synth, along with the futuristic lyrics, has enabled the song to reach cult status. The song is noteworthy because the band eschewed the guitar-laden choruses many songs of this period had (e.g. power ballad), and instead relied on percussion arpeggios and multi-layered sounds. The effect is not unlike what is known as the Wall of Sound effect, although unlike recordings of Phil Spector (who expressed interest in the band, calling them "phenomenal"), A Flock of Seagulls recorded in stereo.
Lyrics
The song details types of energy transmitted across time and space. The first line mentions "ultraviolet..radio light..to your solar system..." indicating someone or something is attempting to communicate across the galaxy. In astronomy, UV light is emitted by very hot objects. A motif in the band's lyrics is alien life forms (with their debut album being essentially a rock opera about alien abduction) and futuristic technology. The song also includes references to nuclear energy and wireless communication, the latter not being in wide use until a decade after the song's release.

The Telegraph Act of 1885 was passed during the British Raj to govern telegraph cables, and today it is one of the laws that governs India’s internet and mobile connections.
There are two other laws but the most recent one was passed back in 1950. The others are the Indian Wireless Telegraphy Act of 1933 and The Telegraph Wires (Unlawful Possession) Act, 1950. Together, these three laws regulate all telecommunications in India.
Now, things are changing. In December, with most Opposition MPs suspended in Parliament, Lok Sabha passed the Telecom Bill, 2023, replacing these three old laws and brings all telecom regulations under one Act.
Most of the Telecom Act takes regulations that have been passed in one way or the other, by the government and the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India and brings them into one statute. Largely, the structure of telecom regulation is mostly intact.
To understand what the consolidation of this Act entails, The Hindu spoke to Harsh Walia of Khaitan and Co., Raman Chima, Asia Policy Director of Access Now, and lawyer Chaitanya Ramachandran.

There are two other laws but the most recent one was passed back in 1950. The others are the Indian Wireless Telegraphy Act of 1933 and The Telegraph Wires (Unlawful Possession) Act, 1950. Together, these three laws regulate all telecommunications in India.
Now, things are changing. In December, with most Opposition MPs suspended in Parliament, Lok Sabha passed the Telecom Bill, 2023, replacing these three old laws and brings all telecom regulations under one Act.
Most of the Telecom Act takes regulations that have been passed in one way or the other, by the government and the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India and brings them into one statute. Largely, the structure of telecom regulation is mostly intact.
To understand what the consolidation of this Act entails, The Hindu spoke to Harsh Walia of Khaitan and Co., Raman Chima, Asia Policy Director of Access Now, and lawyer Chaitanya Ramachandran.

Telecommunication is – according to Article 1.3 of the International Telecommunication Union´s (ITU) Radio Regulations (RR) – defined as «Any transmission, emission or reception of signs, signals, writings, images and sounds or intelligence of any nature by wire, radio, optical or other electromagnetic systems.» This definition is also identical to those contained in the Annex to the Constitution and Convention of the International Telecommunication Union (Geneva, 1992).
Telecommunication occurs when the exchange of information between two or more entities (communication) includes the use of technology. Communication technology uses channels to transmit information (as electrical signals), either over a physical medium (such as signal cables), or in the form of electromagnetic waves. The word is often used in its plural form, telecommunications, because it involves many different technologies.
Early means of communicating over a distance included visual signals, such as beacons, smoke signals, semaphore telegraphs, signal flags, and optical heliographs. Other examples of pre-modern long-distance communication included audio messages such as coded drumbeats, lung-blown horns, and loud whistles. Modern technologies for long-distance communication usually involve electrical and electromagnetic technologies, such as telegraph, telephone, and teleprinter, networks, radio, microwave transmission, fiber optics, and communications satellites.
